Hawthorn flowers have a deep, musky and rather complicated scent.
The leaves are said to taste like bread and cheese.
Hawthorn is a thorny tree shrub which can grow up to 10m. The white flowers of the hawthorn blossom from May to June. This plant carries bright red berries in autumn.
It has often been regarded as an emblem of hope, and popular superstition says that to uproot hawthorn is to bring bad luck, as does to cut or trim it at any other time than when it’s in bloom.
