Training the trainer event.
Teaching responsible foraging in Gaelic with Mark Williams from Galloway Wild Foods and Roddy MacLean
Dunstaffnage, 25th April.
This event is aimed at Gaelic speakers who are interested in leading foraging walks and who would like to enhance their skills in responsible foraging, improve their skills in identification of plants and seaweed. The training the trainer day offers a chance to explore the language and learn new vocabulary in terms of plant names, folklore and local variation. We'll be looking at the seasonal availability of common plants, learning about habitats favoured by particular species and passing on the skills and techniques used to lead a foraging walk. The event will be led by Mark Williams and Roddy Maclean, who are experienced foragers and teachers. The foraging skills will be described in English and further explored and discussed in Gaelic. This event is funded by SNH and Bòrd na Gàidhlig and will be offered free of charge.
