Try making this tasty Regional Botanical gin cocktail recipe at home. Hiroyasu Kayama uses local Japanese leaves and berries to create a delicious spring cocktail.
Ingredients:
  • 30ml The Botanist gin
  • 60ml Japanese botanical soda
  • Japanese mandarin (Yamato-Tachibana), spicebush, Japanese cinnamon leaves, temple juniper berries, Japanese
  • Peppermint, wormwood, camomile, maple sap.
  • 5ml Fresh lime juice
  • 5ml Honey
Instructions for making the The Regional Botanical cocktail:
  1. Create Japanese botanical soda by placing Japanese mandarin, spicebush, Japanese cinnamon leaves, temple juniper berries, Japanese peppermint, chamomile, and painted maple sap into a plastic bottle carbonator.
  2. Pump in carbonation to create soda.
  3. Pour The Botanist into a bowl, add wormwood, and stir (this adds an essence of bitterness to The Botanist gin).
  4. Place ingredients, lime, and honey into a shaker.
  5. Shake and pour into glass.
  6. Pour on Japanese botanical soda to the drink into the glass.
  7. Decorate with Japanese mandarin, spicebush, Japanese cinnamon leaves, temple juniper berries, Japanese peppermint, and camomile.
  8. Place a lid to circulate the scent within the glass.
