Our presence at London Cocktail Week this year centres around serves bar Blixen, near Spitalfields Market at the East side of the city, where there will be gin masterclasses on Wednesday 5th October and Friday 7th October. There is also a rowan, elderberry, fennel and hogweed seed Botanist Cocktail available until 9th October from Mac and Wild.
Having started as a pop-up at Selfridges in London back in 2010, the festival has grown to include more than 20,000 people, 275 local bars, plus events with guest bartending teams from Paris, New York and Singapore.
For our part, we have invited 6 bartenders from 6 bars around Britain to create original foraged serves that will be on the menu at Blixen this week, bringing in their own take on the flavours of the season. The bartenders spent a day hunting for edibles around their respective territories of Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Bristol, under the tutelage of our trusted foraging associates – Mark Williams, Andy Hamilton, Craig Worall, Jason Irving and John Renston of Forage London.
These wonderful foraged delights are available to sample at the restaurants below until the 30th October. Using the hashtag #TheBotanistLCW, drinkers of these refined wild concoctions are invited to tweet pictures to be in with the chance of winning a meal for two at one of the participating bars*
* You should enter this. You can post your own drink or someone else’s. Cheating is acceptable, especially if caused by consumption of multiple delicious gin cocktails. The Judges’ decision will be final and utterly arbitrary.
