This classy little video by LA Group shows the lead up to the Caledonian Bartenders Cup which was held in Glasgow, Scotland on Tuesday 15th April 2014. Made by the guys at the Liquid Arts Academy, the video features LA Group director Scott Gemmell talking about the build up to the action when top bartenders from all over Scotland and the north of England fought it out in a competitive environment for the title of CBC Champion 2014.
The competition was kicked off when some of the judges and staff of the LA Group spent the weekend prior foraging on the banks of Glasgow’s River Kelvin and subsequently making shrubs, syrups, infusions, cordials and bitters etc for use in ‘mystery boxes’ by the eventual finalists.
The concept of foraged mixology had really caught the imagination of the competitors, all of whom had put in a great deal of preparation for the event. The standard of entries was extremely high with a great deal of creative thought having been applied to presentation as well as the cocktails themselves
The piece also features bartender Thomas Aske of the Fluid Movement and Worship Street Whistling Shop in London, forager Mark Williams from Galloway Wild Foods and Glasgow chef and foraged foods specialist Craig Grozier from Glasgow. Enjoy!
