The Botanist: Happening Now: Five Things for June

HAPPENING NOW: five things for june

By: FRANKIE MATHIESON

All. We. Need. Is. Now. We believe life should be lived in the moment. This month, we’re sharing a round-up of our favourite things for right now — original art for your wall, the perfect Martini, a book guaranteed to make your commute speed by — here’s what’s on our radar.

Chop Suey Aubergine with Thai Basil

1. An Adam Bridgland art print.

We’ve teamed up with British artist Adam Bridgland to create an exclusive limited edition The Botanist print. A silver glitter screen print that reads ‘All We Need Is Now’.

Adam says, “the print is about the moment and togetherness. Yesterday is a memory and tomorrow, who knows? This print celebrates the preciousness and the need of the now in everyone's life.”

2. Impromptu dance parties. Is there anything better than a kitchen dance party? We wouldn’t go anywhere without our Party Starter — a portable Bluetooth speaker with disco lights that makes any gathering ten times more fun. We also love a robust indoor/outdoor wireless radio for alfresco situations. Just connect to your favourite playlist and you’re good to go.

3. Perello olives. Not just for Martinis, we can’t get enough of Perello olives. The ideal cocktail hour snack, try serving a tray of Gildas (a cocktail stick with an olive, anchovy and guindilla chilli) or a bowl of blue cheese-stuffed olives (we like gorgonzola).

4. A page-turner. Looking for your next read? We can’t put down Irvine Welsh’s Men In Love, the hotly anticipated sequel to Trainspotting. Set in the late 1980s, it follows the riotous adventures of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie and the lure of the dance floor, with its promise of joy, redemption and new relationships. But as the 1990s dawn, will finding love be the answer to the group’s dreams or just another doomed quest?

5. Martinis. Every day is a good day for a Martini. All you need is The Botanist, served from chilled, the right glass (our signature Nick & Nora Martini Glass, chilled), plenty of ice, and your choice of garnish (lemon balm, pickled onion or olive). Looking for inspiration? You can’t go wrong with a Dry Martini. For a sweeter serve, we recommend our Perfect Martini.

WHAT WE'RE DRINKING

Dry. Spicy. Eye-catching. The Gilda-Tini is a take on a Dirty Martini.
