One-fifth of all plant species are threatened with extinction. Every bottle of our limited design Plant Conservation Edition will contribute to urgent projects saving rare and endangered plant species worldwide. Featuring the same liquid as The Botanist Islay Dry Gin, this limited-edition pack will raise money for Botanic Gardens Conservation International, a charitable organisation delivering meaningful plant conservation and biodiversity work all over the world.

This exclusive, limited-run is only available to buy direct from our distillery on Islay. Each bottle will be sent in 100% plastic-free Flexi-Hex design packaging.

Every bottle sold will donate £5 to supporting plant biodiversity and conservation projects worldwide, enabling around 20 botanic gardens to safeguard endangered plant species. This money will be disseminated through the Global Botanic Garden Fund, which supports plant conservation practices, policy and education, infrastructure development, training for plant conservation and international partnerships for smaller gardens in developing countries and biodiversity hotspots.

The packaging beautifully combines BGCI’s distinctive turquoise branding, with a stylised label featuring some of the endangered plants that our partnership has already contributed to saving over the last two years, including:

Ground orchids in South Africa
Rare magnolias in the USA
Alpine trees in Uganda
Cloud Forest orchids in Mexico
Native medicinal plants in Canada

The pack also includes a plant naming tag with our motto ‘Saving Plants Together’.

“Biodiversity is at the heart of The Botanist. Our botanicals are hand-foraged sustainably to protect our Hebridean home so we understand a little of the work that the BCGI is doing globally to protect the world’s biodiversity. The partnership is a deep-rooted and important one that gives us all a chance to leave a positive legacy.”

Douglas Taylor, CEO of the Bruichladdich Distillery Company & Chairman of The Botanist Foundation.

The Botanist Foundation

The Botanist’s mission is to help people reconnect to nature. We recognise the significance of plant conservation and biodiversity, which is why we set up The Botanist Foundation, with a mission “to work with the people of Islay and beyond to further the understanding and conservation of the island’s biodiversity.”

Since its inauguration in 2015, we’ve supported plant conservation and environmental projects on Islay. Our interest stems from our passion for plants and progressive agriculture and our commitment to looking after the island that has given us the 22 botanicals that go into The Botanist. As a sustainability-conscious producer we feel a responsibility towards plants themselves, as they increasingly become threatened in many parts of the world. Since 2020, The Botanist Foundation has sponsored BGCI’s Global Botanic Garden Fund. Through the Plant Conservation Edition, we’re delighted to be able to play our part in helping this invaluable cause.
